The Science
Nideffer’s Attnetional Model
Nideffer's attentional model, applied to golf, describes how players focus their attention during the game. It proposes two dimensions: width (broad vs. narrow) and direction (internal vs. external). A golfer might use broad-external attention when surveying the course, narrow-external when focusing on the ball, broad-internal when visualizing their swing, and narrow-internal when concentrating on their grip.
The model suggests that different situations require different types of attention. For instance, when reading a putt, a golfer would benefit from broad-external attention to take in the entire green, but when actually making the putt, narrow-external attention on the ball is crucial. Understanding and practicing these attentional shifts can help golfers improve their performance and mental game.
Meet Your Coach
Hello! I'm thrilled you've found your way here. For two decades, sports consumed my every moment, with basketball as my primary passion. However, when my college career ended prematurely due to mental game challenges, I sought a new athletic pursuit. That's when I discovered golf, and I couldn't be more grateful for this twist of fate!
Golf is a remarkable sport that can be both frustrating and inspiring. One of the most crucial factors that can make or break your performance on the course is your mindset. This realization led me to pursue a career in sport psychology. After earning my MA in the field, I had the privilege of collaborating with industry leaders like Trevor Moawad and other professionals.
Over the past decade, I've worked with a diverse range of high achievers, from ultra-high-net-worth entrepreneurs to promising middle school golfers. My goal now is to help you elevate your game!
I invite you to explore my services. If you feel they align with your needs, please don't hesitate to reach out. I'd be delighted to discuss how we can work together to enhance your performance and enjoyment of the game!
Trevor applied his simple and powerful techniques using his empathetic and empowering style. The result was an astounding improvement in my family member’s mental health.
